Free Admission all day!
Join us for a day of programs that celebrate the rich folkloric traditions and contemporary practices from various Hispanic cultures. Enjoy the day with your family by sitting back and taking in the performances and demonstrations or by trying out some drop-in activities in our studios and galleries.

10 a.m.-2 p.m. | Cecilia Imports will be selling fair trade Guatemalan artisan crafts
10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. | Drop-in art-making activity
10:30-11:15 a.m. | Performance by Surcari

A combination of two Spanish words (South America and Caribbean), Surcari is an award-winning performance group originating from Chile and Puerto Rico under the musical direction of multi-award-winning guitarist Lorena Garay. As their name suggests, they play a blend of South American and Caribbean music. Their multicultural performances engage audiences of all ages as they are introduced to irresistible instrumental and vocal music from South & Central America, the Spanish Caribbean, the Andes, Mexico, and Spain!

Explore Rogelio Báez Vega’s painting through a relaxed drop-in drawing session. No drawing experience is required. Seating and materials will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
11:30 a.m.-12:25 p.m. | Tlacuiloa: Artists Born from Wind and Flowers

Artists and Scholars Tlisza Jaurique and Marcus Zilliox will demonstrate the Art of Mesoamerican Codices (Books), exploring painting, Language use/writing, pigments and substrates used in Mexica(Azteca), Mixteca, and Maya Art practices.

12:30-1:30 p.m. | Performance by Elqui Duo (Carlos Boltes: charangos and Venezuelan Cuatro, Gonzalo Cortés: flute, quena, and zampoñas)

Elqui Duo is celebrated for blending South American folk music (especially from the Andes) with Western classical repertoire. Known for their lively performances, the duo combines charangos and flute, quena and zampoñas in innovative programs that span Baroque music, traditional melodies, and newly commissioned works!
