Sunday, October 19, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
From beginner to advanced artists, this workshop will go over the basics of painting outdoors, including composition, value, and color theory. Learn about the importance of proper observation and lighting, how to identify key elements in a landscape, and the basics of color mixing and application. There will be plenty of one-on-one help for each student. Taught by an accomplished professional plein-air painter.
Please bring the following supplies:
  • Oil or acrylic paint (Oil painters, please bring odorless mineral spirits or Gamsol. Please note you CANNOT dispose of your oil paint material at the Museum. They must be taken with you.)
  • French easel or outdoor easel
  • Any size canvas is appropriate (12x16" to 16x20" recommended)
  • Assortment of brushes in different sizes (flat and round brushes recommended)
  • Bug spray (unscented or low scented) (Optional)
  • Water bottle and lunch
  • Palette knife and Palette Paper
