Dive into the world of color and value in this immersive introductory three-session workshop designed for artists of all levels! Whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned creative looking to refine your skills, or someone looking to expand their sketchbook practice or seeking a collaborative artistic environment, this class offers a comprehensive and engaging experience.
Session 1:
Learn the fundamentals of color theory, including the color wheel, essential terminology, and the black-and-white value scale.
Begin your sketchbook practice with foundational exercises using acrylic paint and Color-Aid paper.
Session 2:
Expand your understanding of color as a value through hands-on exercises drawing, painting, and collaging.
Use complementary colors to create a monochromatic grayscale painting of a small fruit in acrylic.
Session 3:
Build on prior lessons by learning to mix and document color recipes and explore the desaturation of hues.
Apply these techniques by learning from the masters replicating a master painting, progressing from a value sketch to color mixing.
