Sunday, June 1, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
From beginner to advanced artists.
This workshop will go over the basics of painting outdoors, including composition, values, and color theory. It will cover the importance of proper observation, lighting, and learning to identify key elements in a landscape. In addition color mixing, application, and personal expression will be discussed. There will be plenty of one on one help for each student. Taught by an accomplished professional plein-air painter.
Materials list, supplied by students:
  • Outdoor Painting Easel (French, Pochade or other) with a palette
  • Paints: Acrylic - All artist grade if possible:
    • Smaller tubes of;
      • Thalo Blue
      • Ultramarine Blue
      • Quinacridone Magenta
      • Cadmium Red Medium
      • Cadmium Yellow Lemon
      • Cadmium Yellow Medium
    • And a Large tube of Titanium White
  • Water for Acrylics
  • Medium glass jar with cover
  • Canvases any size from 12x16 to 16x20 suggested
  • Brushes: Synthetic brushes for Acrylics.
    • 1 large Flat about 1 inch
    • 1 Flat about 1/2 inch
    • 1 medium round
    • 1 small round
  • Other paints, brushes and canvas sizes optional.
About Mike Berlinski:
Mike began drawing and painting at the age of seven. He is basically self-taught and works primarily in oil paints. Mike is a serious and devoted painter and has been working to develop and express his talent for over twenty years. During this time, he has exhibited in many art galleries and art exhibitions. In all of Connecticut and surrounding states, Mike finds places to paint, explore, and express his passion for the natural world. Favorite places include the Farmington Valley, Cape Ann, and Cape Cod.
